Scientists from the University of Kyoto (Japan) analysed the behavioural characteristics of domestic cats. To do this, they surveyed over 300 pet owners, focusing on how their pets react to the appearance of unfamiliar people and objects.
Four identified types
Based on the survey results, researchers categorised cats into four groups:
- Extroverts. These animals actively seek contact with strangers and are not afraid of anything.
- Reserved. They are not afraid of interacting with unfamiliar people but are less likely to take the initiative.
- Introverts. These cats get scared and try to keep their distance from strangers.
- “Curious cowards”. Despite their fear, these animals show curiosity and approach what frightens them.
