Vereshchuk: Peace will not come in the near future, society must adapt to martial law

Iryna Vereshchuk, Deputy Head of the Presidential Office, made a categorical statement regarding the prospects for ending hostilities. She is convinced that the war will not end in the near future, regardless of our wishes.

The need to adapt to the realities of wartime

The Deputy Head of the Presidential Office called on Ukrainians to accept the existing situation as a given. "Peace will not come in the foreseeable future. Regardless of our wishes. This reality needs to be accepted and life built taking this into account," Vereshchuk emphasised.

According to her, although peace will inevitably come, the process will be lengthy. Therefore, the priority now is preparing for further resistance.

Refusal to make compromises with Russia

Vereshchuk underlined that any fulfilment of the Russian side's demands would be a sign of submission. She is confident that the Ukrainian nation is no longer capable of such submission.

"Peace will come eventually, but not in the near future. Now we need to prepare for the continuation of the fight," she added.

Most likely, this was her reaction to the public calls by People's Deputy Honcharenko, who previously proposed making concessions in order to achieve a peaceful settlement of the conflict.
