Strike on air base in Volgograd Oblast
The Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported an attack on a Russian aviation facility. According to the Navy's press service, the use of the Neptune coastal missile system resulted in the destruction of two Su-34 aircraft located on the territory of the "Marinivka" airfield.
As noted by the press service of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the target was located in the Volgograd Oblast of the Russian Federation. In a statement published on Thursday on the social network Facebook, it was detailed that a strike was delivered to the location of the 11th Mixed Aviation Regiment (located in the settlement of Oktyabrsky, Volgograd Oblast), which is part of the 4th Mixed Aviation Division of the 4th Army of the enemy's Air Force and Air Defence Forces.
Significance of the destroyed aircraft for the enemy
The Navy noted that the Su-34 is one of the main platforms of Russian tactical aviation, which uses these machines to deploy guided aerial bombs (KAB). These munitions are used to strike Ukrainian cities, positions of the Defence Forces, and frontline territories.
«Українські ВМС продовжують завдавати ударів по військових об’єктах противника, знижуючи його здатність вести бойові дії проти України» (Ukrainian Navy forces continue to strike enemy military objects, reducing its ability to conduct combat operations against Ukraine), the press service of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine emphasised.
