Completion of humanitarian operation
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky officially announced the successful completion of the evacuation mission from the temporarily occupied Oleshky in the Kherson region. According to him, Ukrainian citizens from the temporarily occupied Oleshky have already crossed the state border in the Chernihiv region.
The leader emphasised that a ceasefire regime was implemented on the Kherson axis to realise this plan. This pause allowed sapper units to clear the roads of mines.
Humanitarian aid and adaptation
As a result of establishing the ceasefire regime and clearing the roads, it was possible not only to evacuate local residents and representatives of surrounding communities who urgently needed evacuation, but also to deliver necessary humanitarian cargo.
Zelensky stressed that all evacuees will be provided with necessary assistance. Government agencies, regional and local authorities have been tasked with organising the effective adaptation of people to new conditions.
Recognition of partners' and defenders' efforts
In his address, the President expressed sincere gratitude to the American side, specifically US First Lady Melania Trump, for their mediating role in organising this mission.
Separate mention was made of the contribution of the Defence Forces of Ukraine, which created the necessary security conditions for conducting the operation, as well as the work of the team of the Parliamentary Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets.
«Пишаюся нашими Силами оборони України, які захищають нашу державу та з честю гарантували безпекові умови для гуманітарної операції» (I am proud of our Defence Forces of Ukraine, which defend our state and honourably guaranteed security conditions for the humanitarian operation), the head of state noted.
Significance of international attention
Zelensky also thanked journalists, civil society leaders and political leaders for drawing global attention to the humanitarian catastrophe taking place in the occupied territory.
«Коли є увага світу, є порятунок людей» (When there is world attention, there is the salvation of people), the President emphasised. He added that the country needs further de-escalation steps for the real approach to peace.
