The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine denied reports of an alleged torture chamber, illegal detention of military personnel, and fatalities at a temporary National Guard base in the village of Petropavlivska Borshchahivka in Kyiv Oblast. The ministry emphasised that these accounts do not correspond to reality and that the incident was a pre-planned provocation. Meanwhile, the State Bureau of Investigation initiated criminal proceedings regarding the actions of military officials.

Incident details and the role of fake medics

Interior Minister Ivan Vyhyvskyi provided details of the situation during a briefing. According to him, the source of the false information about fatalities and a "torture chamber" was a woman who presented herself as a medical worker. She arrived at the scene in a vehicle modified to look like an ambulance, with the body of the car bearing the corresponding symbols of the emergency medical service.

«І почалася вона з того, що ця псевдомедикиня прибула на автомобілі, переобладнаному під швидку меддопомогу з шевроном екстреної меддопомоги. І ця жінка емоційно показувала цей стрим, після чого це побачило багато осіб і після цього там почали збиратися люди, – розповів Вигівський» (It started with this fake medic arriving in a vehicle modified to look like an ambulance with an emergency medical service emblem. And this woman emotionally displayed this restraint, after which many people saw it and then people started gathering there, Vyhyvskyi said).

Detention and legal consequences

Law enforcement officers detained the woman and the driver of the ambulance under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. The Interior Minister stressed that the incident was pre-planned and that the use of emergency medical service attributes was intended to amplify the public resonance surrounding the event.
