Poland expands territory by 21 hectares: wind energy terminal built in Gdansk

Poland has increased its territory by 21 hectares. This was achieved through the completion of a large-scale offshore terminal in the port of Gdansk, located on artificially created land in the waters of the Baltic Sea.

Creating new land at sea

To implement the project, part of the seabed was filled with soil, forming a new plot of dry land. The total area of this facility is 21 hectares. The cost of the works reached hundreds of millions of zlotys.

Purpose of the infrastructure

The new terminal specialises in servicing offshore wind farms. On this territory, large wind turbine structures are planned to be stored, assembled, and dispatched to sea.

Economic impact and government assessment

Investments in this project are aimed at stimulating the development of Poland's energy sector, attracting new companies, and creating new jobs. Prime Minister Donald Tusk called the project a historic event for the state.
