Appeal to European officials

Russian President's special envoy Kirill Dmitriev published a statement calling on representatives of the European Union and the United Kingdom to review their approaches to resolving international disputes. In his words, European politicians should take a cue from the administration of US President Donald Trump.

«Президент Трамп і його команда наполягають на тому, щоб гуманітарний підхід і миротворчість переважали над розпалюванням війни. Чиновникам ЄС і Великої Британії є чому повчитися в цього підходу» (President Trump and his team insist that a humanitarian approach and peacekeeping should take precedence over inciting war. EU and UK officials have much to learn from this approach), wrote Dmitriev.

Context of international disagreements

This publication appeared against the backdrop of existing disagreements between the United States and European countries. The parties view security issues differently and choose different strategies for resolving international conflicts.

In his message, Dmitriev contrasted the position of the US authorities with the actions of European states. In his opinion, Europe does not focus sufficiently on peaceful ways of resolving problems. It should be noted that this assessment is the view of the Russian representative, not a reflection of the shared opinion of the US and European countries.
