Zelensky announces new strikes on Russian refineries in response to attacks on energy sector

President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed that Ukraine is continuing its operation against the Russian oil refining industry. This campaign, which the head of state calls "Ukrainian long-range sanctions," is a direct response to Russia's systematic strikes on our country's energy facilities.

Response to aggression against energy grids

Following a report on Ukrainian long-range strikes, Zelensky emphasised that the Russian army continues its constant attacks on critical infrastructure. Power plants, electrical grids, heat and water supply facilities, as well as civilian logistics, are under fire. To achieve this, Russia uses "Shahed" type drones and missiles.

According to the President, Russia has not changed the nature of its aggression, has refused the de-escalation steps mentioned by international partners, and continues to prepare new offensive actions. Meanwhile, Kyiv has already formulated plans for further countermeasures.

Long-range strikes as a pressure tool

Zelensky thanked the military of the Defence and Security Forces for the precision and systematic nature of their actions. He stressed that it is precisely such strikes, together with "midstikes" and pressure from international partners, that must create motivation for Russia to sit at the table of real negotiations.

«Україну не треба переконувати, що мир потрібен якнайшвидше. Ми цього хочемо. Треба, щоб Росія вирішила, що час війни вичерпано» ("There is no need to convince Ukraine that peace is needed as soon as possible. We want that. Russia needs to decide that the time for war has run out"), the President stated.

The head of state also mentioned the humanitarian operation in Oleshky, noting that it proved: if Volodymyr Putin decides to stop the war, hostilities can cease.
